Character Portfolio: Demon God Sepharis, Archdevil of Pride/Hubris

A scourge amongst heaven and earth, there are few who know not the name of the Demon King.
Hailing from the uppermost layer of Gehenna (known academically as the Hubris ring, and commonly as the Pride ring), Sepharis is commonly hailed as the greatest and most powerful of the 8 archdevils, and, despite his conniving reputation, this title is well earned.
In this aspect, Sepharis is best described through his myths, and no story of his is more infamous than that of the foolish king:

"The story goes that a foolish king, oblivious to his people's contempt for him, contracts the help of the Devil Sepharis, who entices him to become "undead", convincing him that "freeing himself from death" would make his people happy. However, he also infused this "undeath" with a curse of insatiable thirst for blood.

Seeing this, Nurre, the God of Death was furious, and cursed the king further, thus that he could never feel the sun or cross a body of free flowing water, lest he burn to ashes. further, she distorted his form, dyeing his eyes blood red, bleaching his skin to a pale grey, and elongating his canines into monstrous fangs. However, scheming as he was, Sepharis had already anticipated, and placed one last curse on the king, preventing him from ever perceiving his monstrous form in any reflective surface.

Furthermore Sepharis was contacted by the king again, worried that his people were still in a state of unrest. From here, Sepharis further spun his lies, convincing the king that his people, too, wished to become "undead", a wish that he would be all too happy to grant if the king only asked.

By the time the Nurre felt the disturbance, it was already too late, as her vessel arrived at the palace to find a cackling devil atop the highest spire, as the 13 million souls contracted to him merged into his domain. Looking down at death's vessel, the devil king shot a smirk her way, swiftly dispersing into his domain, escaping the containment of the king's nation in the death god's Domain"

It is speculated by some that it is these events, and the capture of 13 million souls, that made Sepharis into the Devil he is now, allowing him to rise to the title of Demon King, and claim the title of God of Hubris. However, others claim that it was his pinnacle example of hubris, laughing in the face of the god of death, that evoked the spirit of godhood within him. Some particular religious institutions even deny his ascension to godhood, proclaiming that a devil could never become a god.

Despite it's biblical origins, Sepharis' Divine Domain is not so wide as to encompass all that could be defined as pride. Rather, it encompasses the realm of Insolence, Self-importance, Selfishness, Disrespect, Taking what is not earned, and, for lack of a better word, Douchebaggery; a domain far better describes as Hubris than simply Pride. Rather, the realm of Pride, Revelry, Glory and Victory belongs to Belail, Master of Majesty and counterpart to Sadia, Matron of Melancholy.
