Chess 2: Cards and Sample Deck

U - Star Pawn – equip this card to a pawn you control; if the equipped piece is moved by its owner, it can be moved a second time that turn. If the equipped piece is promoted, this card is immediately destroyed 

L- Precision Strike – select one column (A-H); at the end of your opponent’s second turn after this one, all pieces in that column are destroyed, excluding the king(s). 

R - Mundane Earth Tornado – target one face-up card either player controls; destroy that card 

C- Summon Stone – create a Stone Token (0 atk, 2d6 + 2 def) on any unoccupied space on the board; this token is under neither player’s control, can be attacked by both players, and cannot be moved, except by card effects. If this token would be forced to attack by a card effect, it loses by default. 

C- Blood Sacrifice – target one piece you control; destroy that piece, and if you do, draw 2 cards 

C- Sacrificial Soldiers – at the end of your turn: at least 3 of your pawns are in the graveyard; create up to 3 pawn tokens (1d4 atk, 0 def) under your control, in unoccupied spaces along your pawning row.  

L- Reborn Soldier – at the end of your turn: target one knight, bishop or rook in your graveyard; return that piece to one of its unoccupied starting places on the board. 

R - Glass Blade – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains +3 atk, but when it destroys a piece, destroy this card 

R- Whirlwind Riposte immediately after your piece successfully defends against an attack: that piece makes a counterattack against the piece that it defended against 

R - Glass Shield – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains +3 to defense, but when that piece successfully defends against an attack, destroy this card 

L- Recoupment of Arms – place this card face up on the field; when a card you control is destroyed, draw a card, then place a counter on this card. When this card has 3 counters on it, it is sent to the graveyard. 

R- Light Brigade – when a pawn you control would attack: add 2d4 to the attack roll, but destroy that pawn you control after the attack is resolved. 

R- Pawn for Pawn – destroy one pawn you control; at the end of your opponent’s next turn, destroy a pawn they control with an equal number of equip cards to the pawn under your control that was destroyed by this effect. 

U- Testudo Charge – place this card face up on the field; pawns you control gain 1d4 defense but cannot attack. At the start of your turn, you can destroy one pawn you control, then destroy this card 

L -Bout of Strength – When a piece you control fails an attack roll: roll an additional d6; add it to the attack roll 

C- Frenzied Rage – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains + 1d4 atk, but if it can attack a piece on its controller’s turn, it that player must use their move to attack with the equipped piece 

C - Trusty sword – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains +2 atk 

C- Trusty shield – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains + 1 def 

C- Rusty Sword – equip this card to a piece you control; the equipped piece gains +1 atk 

C- Rusty shield – equip this card to a piece you control 

L- Ultimate Gambit equip this card to any piece you control; the equipped pieces attack and defense stats are reversed. At the end of each player’s turn, place a counter on this card. If this card has 3 counters, it is destroyed. 

L- Fall of Romeequip this card to any piece your opponent controls, except the king; Each time the equipped piece successfully defends against an attack, place a counter on this card. If this card has 3 counters on it, destroy the equipped piece 

C- Hastened Demise – If your opponent controls a card with counters on it, place one additional counter on that card 

R- Hidden Thief – This card remains face up on the field under your opponent’s control; when this card’s controller draws a card, place a counter on this card for each card drawn. If this card has 3 counters on it, its controller reveals their hand, and their opponent discards one card from it, then this card is destroyed. 

R- Gate to the Grave – This card remains face up on the field; whenever a piece is destroyed by battle, place a counter on this card. When this card has 3 counters on it, choose one similar piece in both players graveyards (e.g. a knight and a knight). each player returns that piece in their graveyard to an unoccupied starting space, after which this card is destroyed 

U- Polearm Proficiency – Equip this card to one knight or pikeman you control; if the equipped piece is moved by its owner, it can move a second time that turn. The equipped piece can only make one attack per turn. 

C- Equipment Re-equipment – Target one card equipped to a piece on the board; change the equipped piece to another eligible piece, except a pawn, controlled by the same player  

U- Crashing Castle – Equip this card to a rook you control; when the equipped piece attacks, but the attack is successfully defended, it can attack the same piece a second time that turn
